SSC JE Exam 2020: Exam Notification, Syllabus, Eligibility, Exam Pattern & 2019 Cut-off
Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts SSC JE Exam for the posts of Junior Engineers in various Departments in the Government of India. These departments include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contracts.
The SSC JE exam is a golden opportunity for the students who wish to make a career for themselves in the government sector. The notification for SSC JE Exam 2020 is yet to be announced by the Staff Selection Commission.
On the basis of the SSC JE 2019, prospective applicants must check their eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus for SSC JE Exam 2020. Also, aspirants must keep track of previous-year cut-off as it will help them analyse what is the minimum score they need to secure to crack the SSC JE Exam.
SSC JE 2020 Exam Notification
As mentioned earlier, SSC JE 2020 Exam dates have not been declared by the commission. The announcement of the SSC JE exam notification will probably take place in August 2020.

SSC JE 2020 Exam Syllabus
The syllabus for SSC JE Exam 2020 is quite vast and is distributed in two SSC JE papers, Objective type which is Paper I and Descriptive Type which is Paper 2.
The SSC JE 2020 Syllabus for Paper I includes a large number of topics and subject areas. These have been distributed in the following manner:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section majorly comprise of basic topics like Arithmetical reasoning, Visual memory, Relationship concepts, Analysis and judgement, Analogies, Verbal and figures classification, Number Series, Decision making, etc.
- General Awareness: In this section, main topics include History, Culture, Scientific Research, Geography, and General Polity.
- General Engineering: Under this section, the SSC JE paper I cover particular topics related to core coursework of Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
SSC JE 2020 Syllabus for Paper-II comprises of three parts which are divided into core subjects in the following manner:
- Part A (Civil & Structural Engineering): This includes topics like Surveying, Building Materials, Irrigation Engineering, Hydraulics, Estimating, Cost and Valuation, etc.
- Part B (Electrical Engineering): This consists of study areas like AC Fundamentals, Circuit law, Electrical Machines, Synchronous Machines, etc.
- Part C (Mechanical Engineering): This includes areas such as Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines and Machine Design, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery, etc.
SSC JE 2020 Exam Pattern
The SSC JE 2020 Exam is divided in two papers, Paper I (Objective type) and Paper II (Descriptive type). The duration of both SSC JE Paper I and SSC JE Paper II is 2 hours.

Applicants must remember that there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer in SSC JE Paper 1.
Also, for SSC JE 2020 Paper 2, applicants will be allowed to use their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables, and Steam Table.
SSC JE Exam Cut-Off
For those who don’t know, the SSE JE Exam Cut off is decided by the Staff Selection Commission itself. The commission will announce the Merit list/ Cut off along with the SSC JE 2020 Exam result on their official website.
