Sol. The popular software used for structural analysis and design of civil engineering structures is STAAD. Pro.
Sol. In the absence of detailed design, the percentage of steel is taken as-
1. In case of raft foundation → 0.5% to 0.8%
2. In case of slab → 0.7% to 1.0%
3. In case of beam → 1.0% to 2.0%
4. In case of column → 1.0% to 5.0%
1. Linear measurement shall be measured nearest up to 0.01m.
2. Area shall be measured to the nearest 0.01 m²
3. Cubic contents shall be worked out to be nearest 0.01 m³
4. Wood work shall be measured. Nearest to 2 mm or 0.002m.
5. RCC work in slab/beams/columns measured nearest to 0.5 cm or 0.005m.
Sol. Given, Total cost (C) = 10,00,000 Rs
Scrap value (S) = 50,000 Rs
Design life (n) = 10 years
Annual depreciation by straight line Method→
Depreciation value after – 5 years = 5 × 95000
= 4,75,000 Rs.
Book value after 5 years = 10,00,000 – 4,75,000
|Knot||Diameter of knot|

|Small knot||6.50 mm – 20 mm|
|Medium knot||20 mm – 40 mm|
|Large knot||Greater than 40 mm|
Sol. De- chlorination is the process of removing excess chlorine from water.
De – chlorinating agents
(i) SO_2 gas
(ii) Sodium thiosulphate (Na_2 S_2 O_3)
(iii) Activate carbon
(iv) Ammonia as (NH_4 OH)
(v) Sodium sulphate (Na_2 SO_3 )
Moment of inertia about base.
Moment of India about centre of gravity.
Sol. The coefficient of hardness of a stone should be greater than 17.
▭(Coefficent of Hardness=(20- Loss in weight (in gm))/3)
u=-d/dy [x^3-y^3 ]= 3y^2
u (1,-1)= 3(-1)^2= 3
v=dψ/dx= d/dx [x^3-y^3 )= 3x^2
= √(3^2+3^2 )
Sol. Peak flood discharge given by Dicken formula-
Where Q= Peak flood discharge (m³/sec)
C= Dicken’s coefficient
A= Area in km²
Now given C= 16, A= 180 km²
Then Q= 16 (180)3/4
Q= 786.27 m³/sec
